Dr. Kevin McKelvey

Meet Dr. Kevin McKelvey

“I chose emergency medicine because I wanted to truly help people who had an acute medical need. This was the main speciality where I felt like I was able to make a difference in a patient’s life in the short term.”

Dr. Kevin McKelvey joins M.D. Express, serving in the Newport News, VA location. His main goal as a physician is to be compassionate and provide excellent medical care to all the people he encounters each day. He attended medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and finished his internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at Western Michigan University School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, MI. His special interests in the urgent care setting include: wound care, suturing, incision and drainage of abscesses, orthopedic injuries, joint reduction and fracture stabilization.

During his deployment in 2017, Dr. McKelvey received the Air Force Achievement Medal for his service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

In his free time, Dr. McKelvey enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as his 2 goldendoodles. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, swimming, cooking and gardening. He also dabbles in carpentry and home remodeling. They truly have enjoyed getting to know the people in the Hampton Roads community, serving in their church and living life together in support of one another.
